October 2016

Our family is now between trials. I say that to mean the latest trial is finished, and until we enter the Heavenlies, there will be more for sure. Father said those that will live Godly shall suffer persecution and face trials. He promised, though, to never leave us nor forsake us, and we are first hand witnesses of this fact. In each problem we have faced these last 6 months, our God has been REAL and has given us grace. One promise that we were reminded about from our Pastor Folk: "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15:58). It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!

The last newsletter (July) stated that Samuel and I were to go out on a mountain outreach. We made it successfully to our destination......18 hours of walking and 8 hours by car to Wau. I left Samuel with another missionary family to get some needed spiritual and physical exercise. Then, I continued on to Port Moresby for 2 days to get a month worth of supplies. Those supplies we were able to stretch out for 2 months. We praise God for that!

The 17th of September, Titus and I walked out to do another outreach and continued on to Wau, following almost the same route Samuel and I had gone 7 weeks earlier. Bible Baptist Church in the Wau area was hosting their first ever youth meeting. Samuel had already been a big help getting prep work done with the Keck family and this local church. We arrived 2 days early, so us 3 Helzerman "men" were able to help with the last minute prep work. It was a great meeting, with over 225 young people in attendance. About 25 youth made a profession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Others dedicated their lives to do the will of the Lord. Truth Baptist Church (Kaintiba) was able to sponsor 3 youth boys of these young people.....they were so grateful to be a part of such a great meeting! Pray for these young people to continue to "Remember their Creator in the days of their youth".

We are all back as a family again in Kaintiba, continuing the great work God has given to us. Now, Christi will be going out this week to get the next two months' worth of supplies. Pray for her as she travels with baby Glory and Grace. Lord willing, she will return to Kaintiba the 10th of October. It is always sad when I am separated from my wife, whether I go out on mountain walks or she flies to Port Moresby. This hardship is a part of our ministry out here in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. It is rare that we get out together as a family, due to the expense, but we pray to do it sometime soon in the next few months.

Lastly, please pray for this struggling infant church family in Kaintiba. Some still need to commit to being baptized. Others need to be born again (not of corruptible seed). There are some who have not been faithful due to the Christian hardships, and are missing out on the Milk of the Word, whereby they can grow. Oh, how I cry to God daily in prayer, that these poor souls will catch a vision of the true Christian life and the joys thereof. Any kind of "persecution" that comes their way is misconstrued as God not caring for them. We seek God to wrap His loving Arms around them and show His Love to them in these trying times.

Christi’s Corner: Our precious baby, Glory, has began to walk all over the place! That is both a blessing and more work! :) She has also learned a few words. She knows how to say daddy and mommy. Hadassah's name is pretty clear but most everyone else's sounds the same. She knows some signs for please, more, and thank you. It seems she is learning new things daily.

This week I will head to Port Moresby to do our shopping but also to renew my passport. I need to have it renewed before our whole family visas are renewed in Dec. Prayers are always appreciated when we go to the city as there are potential dangers. I often quote the verse ...".Safety is of the Lord." The Lord has blessed us with very little problems when we go to the city. Thank you for your prayers.

For His Glory,
Mark and Christi Helzerman
Tabitha, Titus, Samuel, Hadassah,
Grace, Hope, Serenity and Glory
