Dear Praying Friends,

We thank the Lord for open doors. In mid-May God allowed our family to minister in a tent meeting in the city of Buffalo, New York. The meeting was led by Evangelist Jason Kendrick. About 10 churches and their pastors were involved. The focus was to bring in lost sinners and get them under the preaching of the Gospel. In the second week of this meeting, our son Samuel came under conviction from the Holy Spirit. Our friend Bro. Case took Samuel aside and led him to Christ. Christi and I are overjoyed to see our children come to the Saviour at an early age. We need His wisdom as we continue to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

As I am writing this letter, our van is in the shop getting the transmission rebuilt. It was on borrowed time already with over 240,000 miles on it. God provided this Chevy Express van right before our family went to Baptist Bible Translators Institute in Texas. He has given me the stewardship of this vehicle and we praise the Lord He has always given me the ability to do most of the mechanical repairs and tune-ups. A few things, like this one, are beyond my ability to repair. The price will be around $1200 and God has already supplied a few side jobs for me to do that will help compensate for this unexpected expense. Please pray the van will do well for us until the end of deputation.

These past few months have been a time of a reviving in my heart and soul. Christi, as well has been strengthened in the Lord. As we have been scheduling more meetings for this year, we have been able to be at our home church for several preaching services, men’s prayer-meetings, and some public ministry. It truly is a joy to labor with our spiritual brothers and sisters in the Lord. There are many persons at Old Paths Bible Baptist Church who are sold out to God and are “iron” that have sharpened our countenance. We thank our God upon every remembrance of them.

Only a few times in our past letters have we spoken of our children and their part in our ministry and labor of love. All of them are excited about getting to Papua New Guinea, and often ask how long it will be before we can go. Sometimes the older ones will express their desire to give a few dollars of their money to get us there quicker. They also show a great interest in being a public witness. Last week Titus saw some people practicing baseball and ran over and gave them all gospel tracts. After chasing and retrieving all the homerun balls during their game, the players took up an “offering” for him. It was a total of $11! Titus has shown the most enthusiasm in this area. He sure is a great example for his other siblings.

As we close this letter, I must mention that Christi and I were able to spend some time with John and Mary Gray and their daughter Ilava. Bro. John is the man who will be processing our visa paperwork. He has given us a list of documents he needs from us to get this started. We have begun getting these together and we hope to send them off to him in PNG by the end of July. Thank you for your prayers for us as the Lord continues to lead our family in His way.

For His Glory,
Mark Helzerman and Family
