December 2012

Dear Praying Friends,

As we are typing this letter, it is the last day of 2012. Our house is bustling with the sounds of our seven children. Christmas was a joyful time for the whole family. Christi’s parents (Cliff and Linda Taylor) have come to spend about 3 weeks with us. They were able to go to Pangia, SHP (Southern Highlands Province) and Mt Hagan before their time here with us. Christi had the privilege to spend some extra time with them on this adventure to see some fruit of their previous labor there in Pangia in the 1990’s. It truly has been refreshing for our family to have them here.

In just the last two weeks God has redeemed back 6 souls for His Glory. The one lady (Mama Odette) that had said she got saved about 3 months ago was one of these. She said she had “prayed” to impress Christi, but later realized she needed salvation from God. Anyways, we thank God that she has been included in the number! Please pray for another woman (Lydia) that has also shown an interest in being saved.

Another prayer consideration is an upcoming Baptism we are planning. This will be a big step of faith for these people. Their former religious and family ties are factors in their decision to make this commitment. Pray that these would have courage from God to submit to this aspect of obedience to Him.
Last week (December 21) The Lord gave us another State house to use for a new (temporary) church building. The house we live in and this other house are old government houses the Australians made back in the 1960’s. These houses are well built, but have long since been let go in maintenance. We still need to get the official approval from Port Moresby at the provincial level, but the local level government has given us access to it. So this past Sunday (December 30) we held our first preaching service there. This house is high off the ground on posts, so it is enough room to have the church on the “first floor” in the open air. The house is the roof/ceiling, and does well to keep us out of the sun and dry when it rains. In the future, after the official paperwork has been processed, we will use the house and land for the expansion of this work God has given to us.

Mark 10:29 “And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” This was the promise God gave me on the flight to PNG in 2010 before the first house was given to us. Now a second! Praise the Lord for this promise, and that our Lord has helped us through every persecution so far.

Christi’s Corner: The highlight of the last two months for me is the trip that I was able to take with my parents. I was able to see the work that we were part of in the 1990’s. People that we had seen saved were still there doing the work of God! The Dennis Wells and Chad Wells family now minister in Pangia and have added to the work there.

My parents have been a blessing to have around. The children have enjoyed them. Serenity said something funny to my dad while conversing with him. Dad-“How did you get so cute?” Serenity-“My mom is Christi.”

For His Glory,
