December 2008
Dear Praying Friends,

Another year has quickly come to a close and a new one is dawning. As I reminisce of all that the Lord has brought us through, I see how He has sustained us by His omnipotent hand. We also know that there are many of you who are praying for us and with us that God would allow the support to come in for us to be sent to Papua New Guinea. Our family is grateful for those that have continued to support us along this deputation trail. Several of our supporting churches sent an extra “handful on purpose” this month, for which we appreciated greatly. We do not take this for granted, for I know many people are going through hard times right now.

At the beginning of November, I was reunited with my family in Pensacola, Florida after sixteen days up in Alaska. Bible Baptist Church in Fairbanks took us on as one of their many missionaries that they support. The time with them and the three other churches in Alaska was sweet fellowship and precious memories were made.

After we hit the road together again with the family, we traveled through Mississippi, Louisiana, and then into Texas for a few meetings. December held little for us in relation for scheduled meetings, so this gave us the opportunity to be with my parents for a few weeks in Michigan and then Ohio and Pennsylvania with Christi’s family. Both Christi and I are grateful that God has allowed us to be raised up in homes were God is honored. It always makes the Christmas season all the sweeter and will be fond memories to us as we serve in Papua New Guinea.

When we received our overflowing pile of mail a few days ago, there were many Christmas cards from churches and individuals. Each one was a blessing and an encouragement to us. These simple forms of correspondence show us your care for us and love the work of our Saviour. We are humbled by your kindness and pray that God would bless each and every one of you this New Year.

We continue looking up for our redemption, and out to harvest fields that have not yet been touched. There is still much to do and many varieties of personal to accomplish the ever growing task. Please continue to pray for more laborers for the Lord to send forth. If you are reading this and you have not yet committed to God your life, I beseech that you would do so. You will not be disappointed in all the blessings and grace He will give you. It will put you in the place to allow God to do mighty things through your vessel as He enlarges your heart for lost souls and gives you a greater love for our Lord.

For His Glory,
Mark Helzerman and Family
